How Treatment Abroad Works

From your first call to follow-up in London, step by step

Treatment with Family Art IVF starts and ends in London. Your consultation is with our UK team, and your tests and follow-up scans take place at our partner clinic in London, MotherScan, and you travel only for the treatment days, at DNA Clinic in Baku or Miracle Hospital in Cyprus. For most journeys that means short visits: woman 1 day, man 1 day, at least 5 days apart.

London, then Baku or Cyprus, then London

Three places, one team. Everything that can happen close to home happens in London.

Questions about the process

How long do I need to be away?

Woman 1 day, man 1 day, at least 5 days apart. For most treatments that means two short visits rather than one long stay. A 5-day stay is possible, but short visits are what we recommend.

Does my partner need to travel?

It depends on the treatment. For egg donation the man spends one day at the clinic, on the day of egg collection. For embryo donation the man does not need to travel at all.

Can I choose the dates of my embryo transfer?

With the frozen embryo transfer journey, yes, within limits. Frozen embryo transfer at a time you choose, at least 5 days later. Your womb is prepared and monitored at our partner clinic in London, MotherScan, and the transfer is booked once it is ready.

Is a fresh embryo transfer possible?

In some cases. Donor and recipient cycles are synchronised. The man is at the clinic on the day of egg collection. Embryo transfer on day 5. You either stay for 5 days or make two 1-day visits at least 5 days apart. The frozen transfer is the journey we recommend, and your doctor explains the difference for you.

Who is my point of contact during treatment?

Our UK team. They arrange your appointments at our partner clinic in London, MotherScan, book your days abroad with the clinic, and stay in touch with you before, during and after your visits, so you always know who to call.

How long does the whole process take, from first call to transfer?

It depends on your treatment, your cycle and your test results. Our UK team plans your dates with you during your free consultation.

Where will the birth take place?

In the UK, with NHS or private maternity care. Treatment takes place in Baku or Cyprus; the birth does not.
